PHYLLIS DUPUY Phyllis Dupuy grew up in Montreal graduating from McGill University, and went on to teach Art in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She came to London in 1978 to study ceramics and soon established a reputation for her finely thrown porcelain vessels. First shown by Henry Rothschild in Kettles Yard, Cambridge, her work was soon being exhibited here and abroad, including Japan and the Middle East. It can be found in private and public collections including those of the Royal Scottish Museum and the Museum of Leicester. Cate Blanchett chose some of these pieces to feature in the film "Notes on a Scandal". Phyllis has always been fascinated by people and the importance of colour in her ceramics is echoed in her paintings. Having worked in watercolours for many years, she returned to oils, exploring portraiture at Heatherleys Art School in Chelsea. While obtaining an excellent likeness, she likes to capture the soul of the sitter at a moment of interaction with the viewer.
